Hello, dear reader!
This article begins a series of publications on our new product of web industry – HTML5 Gallery Admin templates. Most of users are already familiar with the design of these templates, heard about their distinctive features and competitive advantages. This article also will show how to use this product after installation, how to edit the content.
So, we make a start from the acquired and already installed template and really existing site – www.michaelkanegallery.com

We are not going to tell about installation and adding photos and videos to the site (as it is possible to learn from the video tutorial, located on the page – http://www.web-flash-template.com/html5-video-templates.php), but lets go ahead, starting with the editing of content pages.

For a start lets change the template meta tag “title” to the one that is right for our site. After all, it is not a secret that the tag is very important to any page of the resource. It provides information to search engines about the content represented on the page and has a big influence on search rankings. In addition, good, informative and well-composed “title” will be convenient for your visitors.

This and much more information can be edited in the file index.html using html editor, for example, macromedia dreamweaver.
The procedure is as follows.
- Using any ftp client, get access to files and folders site.
- Find the folder public_html, and file index.html in it

- Download the file to your computer
- Open it in editor, macromedia dreamweaver and start editing

At the top when we find the required tag <title> and change it to the desired. Do not forget at the same time that the tag must be properly opened and closed. For example, as follows: <title> Adam Smith – video producer </ title>.
We will change this template tag to: “Michael Kane’s photo-video albums”.
Next, click in the html editor on “save” and upload the modified index.html file to the server. Now we can see what happened.

Before editing

After editing

On this point we are going to finish.
In the next article you’ll learn how to proceed in editing the content of your site that you’ve created on the basis of HTML5 Gallery Admin template.

How to choose the necessary template type?

This article is intended for users, who have insufficient experience in web building and is designed for the ordinary visitor, who runs into website templates for the first time. So, you entered our site and immediately were taken aback by the number of offered template types. Which one to choose – a dynamic/vivid flash, animated Java Script or austere Joomla? Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages, let’s discuss all of them in details:

Flash Templates

They are very bright, colorful, effective, dynamic, with a complex animation. Are you sure  you will surprise your visitors by such representation? WOW effect is guaranteed to all visitors – nobody will remain indifferent. They are easy in installation / copying to your site; do not require any special skills to be installed. Disadvantages – require knowledge of Adobe Flash editor, if you want to do structural changes in the template and its content blocks. If it is a simple replacement of the inside text without changing the structure, our easy flash templates will satisfy you. Bad indexing by search engines and problems with displaying on the mobile devices also can be attributed to disadvantages of Flash.
Certainly flash templates are the best solution if you need a simple business card site, with a small set of pages, in order to produce a strong impression on your customers. Separately, you can pay attention to our Video / Gallery Admin templates. They have a built-in module for work with galleries, which you can find in our video manuals.

JS Animated, Html5, CSS, html Templates

We tried to make them rather dynamic and animated within the existing technologies. This type of templates is also as easy to install as flash (simple copying of files to your web server). To edit them it’s enough to have basic knowledge of html. These templates are well indexed by Google and displayed on all types of devices (from iPhone to the MAc). This type of website templates is the easiest in usage and is recommended to the most inexperienced newbies.

Joomla Templates

These templates are presented by Content Management System – CMS. They have an admin panel to work with content, multi-user support, various modules and extensions. They have a large built-in functionality to work with SEO. These templates are also well indexed by search engines and have no problems with displaying on mobile devices.
However, this is one of the most complex products in terms of installation on your web server. Here the databases for data storage are used. You should have all necessary skills and experience of files installation. Structural changes of pages will require knowledge of programming language PHP. This type of templates is not appropriate for beginners who do not have any experience with the sites. You will need the help of qualified experts for installation and structural editing.

Some tips for work with Joomla CMS

Have you chosen Joomla? Well, you can be congratulated with it. Today this engine is one of the best and multifunctional. Different types of websites are created on Joomla basis – from a small and simple website to a serious corporate website. The large number of plugins, that allow to implement user-friendly features, also promote spotting a positive mark in the “offset” section.
After your Joomla has been installed, you could enjoy its functionality. However, simple at first sight questions, which can be time-consuming for inexperienced user,  appear during the further work. This article illuminates two simple points – “How to add or delete Joomla user?” and “How to edit locked article?” Having examined the simple instructions, you can feel more confident while working with your site.

How to add/delete user in Joomla

One of the remarkable features of Joomla administrative panel is the ability to add, delete and edit users. Additionally, you can manage user rights, grouping them accordingly.

So, how to add or delete a user?

For these actions you need:
- to authorise in administrative panel;
- in Menu, having clicked on “Site” button”, open the “Users” entry;
- then in opened “User manager”, click on “New”;
- now “User” pop-up should be opened – click on “Add”;
- then it’s simple – enter personal data of new user.

The following items belong to personal data:
- “Name”
- “Login”, necessary for authorisation on the site
- “E-mail” address
- “Password”
- “Group” – here it is necessary to indicate, what group the system should assign the user to
- “User blocking”. If you don’t want to block current user, select “no”

When the whole data is entered, the user should be saved.

For deleting a user it is necessary to log-in, select in Menu, having clicked on “Site” button, “Users” entry. Then in opened “User manager” window, select necessary user and click on “Delete” button.

How to edit locked article?

Joomla beginners often run into difficulties with editing articles in administrative panel. Such difficulties appear due to the presence of “lock icon” on the articles. Nevertheless, it is quite normal and the problem is easy to handle.

To clarify the process, it should be mentioned that the site management system is focused on multi-user access, which means – while you are editing the content it will be locked, so that other users cannot make changes simultaneously. However, the blocking of the material will be automatically removed when the content is saved, or after clicking on the button “Close/Cancel” in edit information screen. Nevertheless, users often having opened the document and worked with it, forget to save it or click on necessary button. In this case the content will remain locked. To unlock it you should log-in in administrative panel and select “Tools” – “Block reset”, as a result the content will be unlocked. It should be noted that the locking mechanism of documents applies to other elements of Joomla program, including modules, menu items and some components (e.g. banners).

How to design your website

Designing a website is creating your web pages with the help of HTML, CSS and other web designing languages. Check out the various website designing tips below:

1. Animations to attract visitors
This is really a great way to attract visitors as well as keep them interested for a long time. You can add animations, moving icons or other scrolling texts to your web pages to make your visitors keep coming to your website again and again.

2. Background colors
This is also an important criterion in making your web pages more appealing. Sometimes white background looks very boring so you can experiment with different colors which can match with your text. Don’t use any fluorescent colors that can really decrease the appeal of your pages. You can change the background color of your website from time to time so that your visitors are not bored. These website designing tips can help you to increase the rate of visitors.

3. Soothing music
It’ll also be very nice if you add some soothing music for your websites. You may also add different music for different pages of your websites and this will make them asking for more. This will be a great way to welcome people.

You can also add images to your web pages that can easily attract a lot of visitors. But be careful of the size of the images as the larger they are, the more time they take in downloading. So, keeps this website designing tips in mind to increase the popularity of your websites.

Add facebook “Like” button.

Web-flash-template.com add facebook “like” button at each template product page. Now you can easily share best templates with your friends at facebook.

Now I want to tell you how you can add facebook like button at your website or web page.

Asking google you can easily find “developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like” – official facebook developers page.
This article describe two ways of adding like button. First way – using iframe tag. It’s hard to add something about this way. You should just fill web form and copy/paste generated html code to your page.

I want to tell about second way – using XFBML. Why you should use XFBML? XFBML – works using facebook API, so it more flexible, fuller-featured and allows users to add a comment to their like. How to add facebook like button using XFBML? At developers page I find only that I have to use of the JavaScript SDK and that’s all. Off course you can read manuals for JavaScript SDK, but it’s time waste. Here a step by step manual for adding facebook like button using XFBML.

1. Register your website as Application to get App ID. Simple go to http://developers.facebook.com/setup/, fill form and copy your application ID.

2. Add Open Graph protocol and FBML schema to you website. Add two parameters to “html” tag xmlns:og=”http://opengraphprotocol.org/schema/” and xmlns:fb=”http://www.facebook.com/2008/fbml”.

Your final <html> tag is -

<html xmlns=”http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml”
xmlns:og=”http://opengraphprotocol.org/schema/”
xmlns:fb=”http://www.facebook.com/2008/fbml”>

3. Add extra meta tags. Fill content with your data.

<meta property=”og:site_name” content=”YOUR_SITE_NAME”/>
<meta property=”og:title” content=”TITLE_OF_YOUR_PAGE”/>
<meta property=”og:type” content=”YOUR_PAGE_OBJECT_TYPE”/>
<meta property=”og:url” content=”URL”/>
<meta property=”og:image” content=”URL_TO_IMAGE>”/>
<meta property=”fb:app_id” content=”YOUR_APP_ID”/>

Facebook support limited count of types: blog, product, actor, website, … Full list you can find at – http://developers.facebook.com/docs/opengraph#types

4. Add JavaScript SDK to bottom of page but before the </body>

<div id=”fb-root”></div>
<script type=”text/javascript”>
window.fbAsyncInit = function() {
FB.init({
appId: “YOUR_APP_ID”, status: true, cookie: true,
xfbml: true
});
};
(function() {
var e = document.createElement(‘script’); e.async = true;
e.src = document.location.protocol + ‘//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js’;
document.getElementById(‘fb-root’).appendChild(e);
}());
</script>

5. Now you can add “Like” button to your web page, just replace “URL” to your URL.

<div class=”fb_like”>
<fb:like width=”340″ layout=”standard” show_faces=”true” href=”URL” colorscheme=”default”></fb:like>
</div>

Live example you can see at any product preview page at flash website template store.
